What an incredible 60 days it has been here at La Joya ISD! In just two months, I’ve had the privilege of immersing myself in our district and learning from each of you. I’ve met many more incredible individuals and witnessed firsthand the talent and dedication within our district. As I continue to engage with our staff, students, parents, and community members, I’m reminded of the tremendous potential that exists within La Joya ISD. Our journey ahead is clear—we have much work to do, but I’m confident that with dedication and perseverance, we will build upon our existing strengths and strive for excellence. Teamwork makes learning fun! Students in Miss De Leon First Grade class participated and enjoyed the “Race to the Sum” game.
Students in Mrs. Gonzalez’ first grade class are working on their math facts and applications for the day. Using manipulatives, students work with their partners or triad to solve and justify their math problems.

Students in Mrs. Bermea’s second grade class celebrated Dr. Seuss Week by reading his books, creating activities, and incorporating writing. Students read The Cat in the Hat Comes Back. They wrote about what they would do if the Cat in the Hat came to their home. Students discussed the power of making the right choices. They also put in practice their measurement skills to create Cat in the Hat hats. The students ended the day with a little sweet treat.

Students in Mrs. Gallegos’ second grade class are celebrating Dr. Seuss Week by reading his books, creating activities, and incorporated writing. Today the students read The Sneetches. They wrote about what they liked about themselves, discussed the importance of being different, and created their own Sneetches paper t-shirt. The students ended the day with a little sweet treat.
